Planet-Earth-Timelapse-from-Outer-Space-by-NASA-Astronaut-Don-Pettit-from-Oregon-State-University
We are what we think.
All that we are arises with our thoughts.
With our thoughts we make the world.

These words of the Buddha Shakyamuni express the heart of his experience of Awakening when he came to see the truth of how things really are.

Join us this Easter time in the beautiful setting of the Adelaide Hills to explore the heart of the Buddha’s teachings, communicated to us through the Dhammapada, the Way of Truth. Through talks, meditation, reflection, discussion and periods of silence, learn more about how we ‘make our world’ and how we too, like the Buddha, can cultivate mental and emotional states that colour our world differently, living in harmony with reality.

Two Day Retreats with Maitripala
Saturday and Sunday
11th and 12th February
10am – 3pm

96 Halifax St, Adelaide

It is easy to feel overwhelmed by what is happening all around the world on any parameter you dare to think of – politics, environment, economics, gender, race, class and so it goes on and on. How can we best live a Dharma life in the midst of so much turmoil, conflict and suffering?

Join us for this weekend of exploring the teachings, to find out more about yourself and your relationship to unsatisfactoriness and compassion. Metta is a necessary first ingredient for effectively connecting with compassion. Maitripala will lead us through experiential learning that has enabled her to undertake the Buddhas-in-my-Pocket pilgrimage this past year and will enable us to go deeper in ourselves and with others.

The content of these two day retreat/workshops flows on one from the other, but each day can also be meaningfully participated in, without attending the other day.

Dana contribution for each day is $50, or $80 for both days.

Booking essential, via email
or phone Dharmamodini 0439 839 785

The Turning-of-the-Year Retreat (see separate email circulated 22nd Nov) will be from Tuesday 27th December through to Tuesday 3rd January.

We will resume Sangha Nights on Tuesday 10th January, 2017.

Maitripala, the Order member from Victoria who is undertaking the Buddhas in My Pocket Pilgrimage, will be with us from 7th – 17th February.

Adelaide Triratna is entering into the Fringe next year ( 17th Feb – 19th Mar) with promotional Drop-In meditations, watch this space for further information.

Reflecting on this time of year and being mindful of choices and decisions we are making about the weeks ahead, here are some inspiring words from the Dalai Lama:
“Let us reflect on what is truly of value in life, what gives meaning to our lives, and set our priorities on the basis of that.”
Go well everyone and hope to see you sometime soon.

This year’s local Adelaide urban retreat will continue themes we have been exploring in the Sutra of Golden Light and The Journey and the Guide.

What does it really mean to let go of self and become the more loving one, and how can we do this?

Join us this springtime for a week of inspiration and spiritual friendship, to invigorate your energies and enliven your being.

Our theme for the coming retreat at Glenbarr

from the evening of Thursday 4th August

to Monday afternoon 8th August

Sangharakshita poses the question: Am I an individual or just a social unit? and he goes on to say this is, at bottom, the central question of our personal lives, and it is one we need to keep asking ourselves and keep trying to penetrate more deeply.

It is also the key to the development of sangha, a spiritual community, our current theme on Tuesday nights. The retreat is an opportunity to go deeper in our explorations of the nature of sangha as a free association between developing individuals, and what it is to be truly human.

Book your place now to be a part of this special event at Glenbarr, Strathalbyn in the beautiful Adelaide Hills, phone Dharmamodini
0439 839 785.

Contribution to cover costs for the four nights is $200.

Sailing the Worldly Winds

This is the theme of our five day residential retreat, happening over Easter, starting Wednesday evening, 23rd March
and finishing Monday afternoon 28th March.

sailing_the_worldly_windsFive years on from its publication, the book by the same name continues to inspire and guide people from around the world in their practice of the Dharma. Described as a Buddhist way through the ups and downs of life, Vajragupta’s sharing of the Buddha’s teaching offers reflections, exercises and plentiful suggestions for living this life with a more balanced approach, how to develop a more even keel in the midst of life’s upheavals.

Join us on this retreat and not only learn how to sail and be a part of cultivating sangha, but also enjoy the wondrous bushland at Douglas Scrub, 37 hectares of native vegetation in the heart of the Fleurieu Peninsula, only 45 minutes from town (near McLaren Vale).

Further details will be available later and you can ring Dharmamodini to discuss any aspects of the retreat, but for now, we are encouraging you to get these dates in your diary and start making necessary plans and arrangements so you can commit to coming along. It is only seven weeks away!
